  • Objectives This programme is aimed both at graduates who perhaps studied their degree several years ago, and at recent graduates who wish to maximise their potential within either the computing industry or in computer science research The course can be tailored to allow you to rapidly develop your skills in a particular area and to increase your knowledge to an advanced level The course content reflects the research and consultancy strengths of the School's staff, with topics covered including database technology, Internet technology, cybermetrics, software engineering, multimedia technology, human-computer interaction, object-oriented techniques and computer networks Undertaking a final project will allow you to consolidate the knowledgeand skills you've gained by tackling a significant problem within computer science You will benefit significantly from working with the outstanding resources within the new Technology Centre If you take the part-time route, you have the option of evenings-only study
  • Entry requirements For the MSc award, we normally require an Honours degree in any subject Students without a sufficient background in computing will be required to take, as part of their programme, one or more specialist induction modules Students with a background in computing will have a greater choice of modules

    Previous graduates have found employment in the computer industry in positions such as online consultant, analyst/programmer, business systems analyst, database administrator, senior software support technician or college lecturer

    A number of students have gone on to further research at PhD level, and opportunities also exist in teaching in both further and higher education
