  • Entry requirements Entry requirements First or second class Honours degree or equivalent in physics, chemistry, materials science, electronic engineering or a related discipline. Applicants whose first language is not English are required to take a suitable test. IELTS, minimum score 6.5; TOEFL, minimum score 575, plus a score of 4.5 in the Test of Written English; or minimum of 232 in the computer-based TOEFL.

    Please note that this programme is jointly managed by the universities of Sheffield and Leeds.

    Nanotechnology is one of the key twenty-first century technologies, and its interdisciplinary nature requires a range of skills not provided by any single science department.

    This course is taught by staff at the forefront of the field from the Universities of Sheffield and Leeds, to equip graduates for careers in this expanding and leading edge science.

    Students will gain a broad understanding of the relevant areas of materials science, physics, chemistry, electronics and biology on which this technology draws.

    -nanoscale magnetic materials and devices
    -processing and properties of inorganic nanomaterials
    -self-assembling nanostructured molecular materials and devices
    -macromolecules at interfaces and structured organic films
    -electronic and photonic materials and devices
    -bio-nanotechnology
    -major project based at Sheffield or Leeds.
