Objectiveshe course is designed to support the needs of ambitious mechanical engineering graduates who wish to work in engineering industries at a more senior level and/or wish to achieve a prestigious postgraduate qualification to aid career progression. You will develop specific mechanical engineering skills in addition to highly transferable skills in management and research. For overseas students, a valuable opportunity exists to study in a friendly environment, while living in the UK and enhancing your language skills. The MSc program is designed to provide students an opportunity to strengthen and extend the knowledge they have gained studying engineering at undergraduate level. The course will deliver skills and knowledge in technical mechanical engineering disciplines, but will also deliver transferable research and management skills. In the final semester of the course, students will be able to pursue a research project in their chosen area of interest or expertise. Such projects are often pursued in collaboration with regional, national or overseas-based engineering and manufacturing companies. The award of MSc is made for students achieving 180 credits. Intermediate awards of Postgraduate Certificate (60 Credits) and Postgraduate Diploma (120 Credits) are available for those who do not progress to the MSc project stage. Students can choose to join the course in either February or October of any year.
Entry requirementsEntry Requirements For all entrants, a first or second class BEng or BSc degree (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering (or related discipline) is required. International students must also demonstrate a good command of the English language (minimum IELTS score of 6.5, or equivalent). Students who have not yet achieved this level can undertake English Language tuition within the university to allow them to reach the required standard to join the course.
