PgC-PgD-MSc in Medical Imaging or Oncology or Breast Evaluation

  • Objectives Radiography exists in a changing professional environment, which requires the practitioner to continually update and review their clinical practices. A key feature of the postgraduate programme is to provide a flexible framework to prepare participants for advance practice by studying topics relevant to their needs and those of their clinical departments.
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements A degree/diploma in radiography or equivalent qualification. At least two years full-time clinical experience. Show academic potential to study at Master's level by evidenced means including professional references, examples of previous academic work or at personal interview. Candidates who are not eligible to be (or who are not registered) with the UK Statutory and Regulatory Body will not be able to undertake modules that incorporate a clinical component. This is likely to be the case of overseas applicants.
  • Academic title PgC/PgD/MSc in Medical Imaging or Oncology or Breast Evaluation
  • Course description Structure of the Course

The Programme, Medical Imaging/Oncology Practice/Breast Evaluation is offered as either a part-time block release course or as a full-time course. The flexibility of the programme encourages registration at three levels for either a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Radiography. Individual modules may also be taken as freestanding short courses without commitment to the recognised awards. The programme has routes for diagnostic radiographers, therapy radiographers and other disciplines within e.g. mammography, computerised tomography and dental radiography.

    Assessment Methods

Each module is assessed separately with the assessment chosen to be appropriate for the learning outcomes specified for each module. These assessments are selected to be professionally relevant to the practising radiographer and include case studies, research protocols, dissertation, essays, portfolios, practical assessment and assessment of clinical competency. Emphasis is placed on producing reflective practitioners who critically evaluate their own professional work and clinical practices.
