  • Objectives The Health and Social Care Education programme is an interprofessional programme designed for all health and social care professionals wishing to pursue a career in education, to develop educational expertise, take an educational lead role, and gain a recognised teaching qualification in higher education as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy and/or the Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK).
  • Entry requirements Entry Requirements Normally a first degree with two years’ relevant professional experience is required. Students who have a diploma and two years’ professional practice may apply based on previous academic or professional experience.

    Detailed programme structure

    Professionals working in health and social care, actively involved in, or with an interest in learning and teaching will benefit personally and professionally from this dynamic, innovative and leading edge programme. To enhance your role as educator interprofessional learning is a key facet of the programme.

    Higher Education Academy (HEA) Registered Practitioner Status - Students completing the Certificate in Health and Social Care Education (60 credits) are able to register with the HEA as a registered practitioner.

    Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) recordable teaching qualification - Professionals on the NMC register who complete the Postgraduate Certificate in Health and Social Care education plus 360 hours of teaching activity can achieve a recordable teaching qualification as a teacher

    -Learning and teaching in Higher Education 20 credits
    -Developing professional practice: supporting learning and teaching in higher education 20 credits
    -Teaching in practice 20 credits

    Postgraduate Diploma

    Core Modules

    -Research methods  20 credits
    -Principles and practice of data analysis  10 credits
    -Research and project design   10 credits

    Optional Modules

    These can be programme specific or from the Integrated Masters Scheme   20 credits

    Master of Science

    Project 60 credits
