Race and Ethnicity: Globalisation and Diasporas (PhD - MPhil)
ObjectivesThe Faculty of Lifelong Learning offers committed, enthusiastic and dynamic research-based teaching, with a changing curriculum sensitive to developments in policy, politics and culture. Our approach is interdisciplinary and is designed to foster a creative graduate environment. Supervision is offered in a range of research areas, including: culture, ethnicity and identity; diasporic imaginations; feminist theory; gender, sexuality and ethnicity; globalisation, migration and diasporas; racial formations. The research programme is led by distinguished academics in relevant fields. Entry requirementsEntry requirements A good honours degree in social sciences or humanities. Prior to your admissions interview, you will be required to submit a research proposal of up to 2000 words.

Birkbeck is at the geographical centre of London’s research library complex, a short distance from the University of London Library, the British Library, the libraries of the School of Oriental and African Studies and the Institute of Commonwealth Studies, and we also have our own award-winning Birkbeck Library.
As a Birkbeck doctoral student, you will have access to the stimulating events and facilities provided by the College Research School and the rest of the College. You will also be able to attend relevant master's degree modules in the Faculty.
