  • Entry requirements Entry requirements You will normally be a graduate and/or hold a diploma in counselling. In addition, you should normally have at least three years of post-qualifying experience as a counsellor and be supervising, or be about to supervise, the work of others. We may consider other relevant qualifications. Selection also depends on an interview and recommendation from referees.

  • Course description This course is for experienced counsellors or therapists who are supervising or intend to begin supervising the work of other counsellors or therapists. It enables you to acquire skills, reflect on the process of supervision and gain a valuable qualification.

    Starting with an introduction to supervision, the course includes topical, ethical and professional issues and supervisory theory, skills and trends.

    Course modules address the needs of supervisors in various settings and from different theoretical orientations. We also encourage reflective practice.

    Our students have strengthened their career prospects by taking on more responsibility within their own organisations as well as moving into posts in primary care, the voluntary sector and developing independent practices.
