    This new course will focus on the archaeological remains and material culture of the North Western provinces of the Roman Empire from the late 1st Century BC through to the 5th Centruy AD, underpinned by a strong focus on practical field archaeological skills.

    Entry requirements: For 2008/2009 entry: 160 points from 2 A Levels; 180 points from 3 A Levels For 2009/2010 entry: 180 - 200 points

        * Exploring the Historic Environment Past and Present
        * The Science of Artefacts, Geofacts and Ecofacts
        * Study Communication and Research Skills for the Historic Environment

    Year 2

        * The Army and Frontiers of Rome
        *  Innovation, Production and Consumption
        * Reconstruction of Environment and Economy 
        * Post Excavation: Data Analysis
        * Applied Field Methods (four-week field-school)
        * Archaeological Placement (five weeks, work-based)

     Year 3

        * Personal Research Project on a Roman Topic (presented as a dissertation)
        * Professional Studies
        * The Archaeology of Roman Britain
        * Iron Age Britain OR Early Medieval Britain
        * Landscape Archaeology
