    Programme

    1st year overview

    The first year introduces you to the fundamental knowledge and skills of Sports Development. The modules include The Development of Sport; An Introduction to Health and Fitness; The Organisation and Structure of Sport; Sport in the Community; Foundations of Sports Development and Foundations of Coaching Practice.

    2nd year overview

    The second year develops the concepts, issues and theories introduced in the first year and allows you to choose from a number of optional modules in order to match with your career aspirations. The modules include; Sports Policy; Health and Fitness for Special Populations; Sport in Education; Governance in Sports Organisations; Resource Management in Sport; Managing Events; Practical Sports Development; Approaching Research; Work-based Learning and an Independent Study Module.

    3rd year overview

    In the third year you have the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills acquired in the previous two years in real Sports Development situations, and complete a dissertation based on an area of your choice. The modules include; Applied Sports Development; Sport Excellence; International Perspectives of Sport; Sport and Disability; Pedagogy in Practice; Strategic Management in Sports Organisations; Exercise Prescription for Special Populations; Dissertation and an Independent Study Module.
