    Programme

    Year One of the programme allows you to develop knowledge of fundamental principles in areas including:

        * Analogue and digital electronics
        * Communications systems
        * Engineering design
        * Analysis and mathematical skills.

    It is a common first year shared also with our BEng Electronic Engineering (Broadcast Systems) and BEng Electronic Engineering (Telecommunications). This allows you to start the course and make the decision to specialize at the end of the first year once you have a feel for the areas of specialism that may interest you.

    Year Two of the programme studies more specialised areas, for example:

        * Embedded systems
        * Signal processing
        * Electromagnetics
        * Project management.

    In Year Three the two main thematic areas, analogue and digital electronics, are expanded upon to focus on advanced digital design and high frequency electronics. Students are also required to undertake an individual project relevant to his/her specific interests. Previously project topics have included:

        * Microprocessors
        * Mobile communication
        * Control systems
        * RF/microwaves
