  • Objectives
To offer knowledge and expertise in the effective use of building modelling and simulation methods for assessing energy and environmental performance at the scale both of individual buildings and the city.
  • Entry requirements
    Entry Requirements:

The course is suitable for graduates or practitioners in disciplines related to the built environment, such as architecture, building services engineering, building technology or environmental studies, who would like to develop expertise and skills in advanced modelling and simulation methods. Applicants should possess a good first degree, or equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline.
  • Academic title
Building Energy and Environmental Performance Modelling (MSc)
  • Course description
    Course Description:

After an introduction to the climatic forces which affect buildings, there are modules which focus on specific aspects of building performance, providing an opportunity for the acquisition of both academic foundation and practical skills in the evaluation of building performance by simulation.

In a second stage of the course, students are able to investigate in greater depth an aspect of the subject that interests them. They produce a written dissertation based on their research.

    Special Features of this course:

The School is among the leading developers of computer modelling software at scales ranging from individual buildings, through urban clocks to entire cities.
The environmental laboratory is equipped with a boundary layer wind tunnel and the most advanced artificial sky and heliodon installation in the United Kingdom.
