Who is this course for? This course is for young people who are interested in pursuing a career in the beauty therapy industry, but need to top up their English language skills in order to progress to higher level study. It is a theoretical and practical course for ESOL students who want to improve their English through beauty therapy and learn the basic practical aspects of beauty therapy. It is ideal for people whose English is not yet strong enough to attend a NVQ Level 2 in Beauty Therapy What will I study? Students on this course will learn basic practical aspects of beauty therapy, including: manicures, facial treatments and make-up all within a supported environment to develop your English language knowledge. You will need to purchase an NVQ Level 1 beauty kit and a uniform which will need to be worn for all practical lessons. Details of all costs are outlined below. Unfortunately, there is no funding available to students to help with the costs, however student services are available to advise on financial related issues for individual cases. NVQ level 1 kit: Consists of manicure tools (e.g. files), facial equipment such as sponges. The kit costs approximately £25.00. Course Book: You will be provided with course packs. Other reading materials are also available from the Learning Centre. Beauty uniform: The uniform consists of a white tunic with black piping and black trousers. Please note: You must order the tunic from the college. You can wear your own black trousers or order them from the college if you wish. The white tunic with black piping costs approximately £27.00 Shoes: Flat, closed, black shoes must be worn. We do not allow heels or backless shoes due to health and safety precautions.
