    Duration of course:
    Two years, part time day & evening study (approximately 10 hours on one day per week).

    Where does it lead?
    The course provides a nationally recognised qualification for those employed in the Building Services industry and associated areas and can lead onto BTEC Higher National Certificate.
    Students on the course are encouraged to gain membership to the CIBSE or other relevant professional institutions.

    What does it include?
    The course consists of twelve units:

    ØHealth, Safety and Welfare                              ØElectrical Principles
    ØConstruction and the Environment                   ØService Controls
    ØConstruction Technology and Design               ØThermofluids
    ØConstruction Science and Materials                  ØVentilation and Air Conditioning
    ØAnalytical Methods                                            ØHeating
    ØBuilding Services Science                                 ØApplied Mathematics or Graphical Drawing
     
    What do I need to get onto it?

    The course is more likely to benefit applicants already working in the industry, however
    each candidate will be assessed on previous experience and qualifications including:

    Ø A BTEC First qualification in Building Services Engineering or related vocational area
    Ø GNVQ Intermediate in an appropriate vocational area
    Ø 4 GCSE’s at grade C or above, including Maths

    Successful applicants are required to purchase the CIBSE Student or Concise Handbook before the course starts.
