    You should check the level of this course to see if it matches your ability. No qualification is necessary but experience of the methods and practices of painting would be helpful. An ability to experiment and take risks is important.
  • Course description
    Course content:
        This class is for students with considerable experience of drawing and painting to explore ways of developing and extending both the subject and means of interpretation
        At the end of the course you will:
        - Produce a series of experimental Life Drawings and Paintings
        - Produce an “Artist’s Book” – you will interpret this project to produce a linked series of images presented in your chosen format.
        During the three term year you will cover a wide variety of ideas and approaches to develop and complete several projects. The year might include working with a life model, experimental workshop on movement. Transcribing and interpreting a classical painting, a site specific ‘sense of space’ and working on a theme such as ‘Aspects of women in the media’. We try to include a group exhibition some time in the year.

    Course Structure:
        This is a practical course in a bright art studio where you will have a space to work on your individual project. It is divided into 2x6 week projects, and is primarily designed for students who attend am and pm sessions.

    Course resources:
        Occasional Life Models for which there will be a fee, well equipped art studio, drawing materials for sale

    Assessment:
        Self assessment through Individual Learning Plans. On going individual discussions, group ‘crit’ at the end of each project
