This 24 week course will look in detail at how PC's and Laptops work and how to fix problems with hardware and software. The course takes you from beginner level up to level 2, and will give you the skills to upgrade computer systems and to solve a range of problems. Some of the skills you can learn from this course are how to upgrade computer memory, how to add a hard drive or a DVD writer, how to replace a power supply, how to re-install Windows, how to protect your computer from internet threats, and how use devices such as webcams and memory card readers. The second half of the course goes into more detail and will help you pass the CompTIA A+ Essentials exam. A+ is a technician training exam set up by the computer industry, so you can use this course to help you maintain your own computer, or as a starting point for a career as an IT Technician. Please note we do not offer A+ exams at the college, we prepare you for the exam but you must then book yourself into an exam centre to take the A+ exam. However you can get a BTEC qualification from this course, and you can also purchase a discount voucher from us for the A+ exam.
