    Entry requirements Learners wishing to start an advanced apprenticeship in hairdressing must have already completed the level 2 apprenticeship and be employed in the hair industry for a minimum of 16 hours a week. Learners are required to attend college one day a week.

    General information

    The hairdressing advanced apprenticeship is available for learners aged from 16-65 who are employed in the hair industry and who have previously completed the level 2 advanced apprenticeship. College attendance is on a day-release basis and assessment will take place in the workplace. Learners are required to build a portfolio of evidence to prove their skills, understanding and knowledge of the subject. Training is provided through salon sessions, tutorials and classroom teaching. On successful completion of this programme, learners will be classified as fully skilled hair technicians.

    Course content

    In-house training will take place one day a week and regular assessments and reviews will occur in the workplace. Learners will work towards an NVQ level 3 in Hairdressing, level 2 Keyskills in Application of Number and Communication, health and safety and Employers’ Rights and Responsibilities.
