The first Masters degree of its kind in the North East of England, the MA in Creative Writing is a challenging postgraduate programme which offers the student the opportunity to explore various aspects of new writing, including prose and writing for performance.

This is a practical degree, designed for people who wish to become published creative writers, as well as for those involved in teaching creative writing, or in other areas of the writing industry.

    What you will study

The MA Creative Writing offers you the opportunity for either full- or part-time study on a taught course of one or two years. It provides workshops taught by experienced creative writers; mixes workshops that produce pieces of writing with others, involving discussion of technique; offers tutorials to discuss work with experienced writers; includes group critiquing and editing sessions; assesses you by your own writing, not by academic essay; gives you the opportunity to mix with other writers and become involved in the writing community of the North East.
