  • Course description
    FdA Fashion Make Up

This course allows you to investigate and develop the necessary skills to become a make up artist for the fashion, lifestyle and promotion industries. The programme will focus on both technical skills and the research and development approach needed to work successfully within the fields of the fashion and related industries. You will also be introduced to all visual communication elements necessary to create successful editorial and advertorial images, as well as specialised promotional make up techniques and skills. Project work requires sourcing, research and development, and production that may be done on an individual basis or within a team, and will always have a set of required outcomes.

Visualisation skills in 2D underpin core make up studies and application, and explorations in 3D enhance an understanding of the body and its underlying structures that is particularly important in the production of prosthetic and special make up effects.

Personal and professional developments including communication, negotiation/ team working, networking and studentship skills are measured and assessed in conjunction with core subject skills, in the interests of an overall learning experience that is relevant and useful. You will be supported throughout this, in a teaching and learning environment that is ultimately focussed on your needs wherever possible; you will encouraged at all times to identify and develop your own working methodology and style against a backdrop of a professional establishment that is ever ready and waiting to be pushed, surprised and transcended. Graduates can apply their specialist knowledge as a make up artist for fashion, beauty, editorial, catwalk and promotional campaigns.
