    Introduction

    The Graduate Diploma in Psychology is designed for those wishing to pursue a career as a professional psychologist and who do not possess a first degree which confers eligibility for Graduate Basis for Registration (GBR) with the British Psychological Society. GBR is the first step in becoming a Chartered Psychologist and a necessary requirement for many postgraduate programmes (e.g. MSc in Health Psychology).

    Outline of programme

    The programme has the following compulsory modules:

    • Thinking and reasoning

    • Child development

    • Brain and behaviour

    • Social psychology

    • Advanced research methods

    • Advanced statistics

    • Project

    • Contemporary issues in psychology.

    Candidates who can show prior learning in a module may, under certain circumstances, take an elective module in its place.
