    Course Description

    On this course, you will be introduced to specialist sewing techniques for lingerie. You will learn how to make simple items of lingerie, such as knickers and camisoles, and the range of fine finishing and detailing involved in producing these specialist items.

    What does the course lead to?

    Successful completion can lead onto BTEC Lingerie or other higher level fashion and textiles courses, setting up a small business or taking commissions.

    What does the course involve?

    The course covers traditional and innovative lingerie techniques. You will work on basic lingerie techniques and processes and make up at least one item of lingerie.

    In addition, you will work on a folder of samples of techniques, with written information, current trends in lingerie, exhibitions etc.

    A certain amount of home study will be required each week. Students will need to attend regularly and punctually to enable them to cover all the components of the course.

    What books and equipment do I need?

    You will need to bring scissors, needles, pins, a tape measure, a thimble, sewing threads to match the fabrics you will use. You will also need a folder with plastic sleeves, in which to keep you samples and notes, a note-pad, pens and pencils. Pattern cutting paper and calico for toiles is normally for sale in college.
