  • Entry requirements
    This leadership degree programme has been developed for leaders and managers who wish to explore, research, develop and apply issues of direct relevance to their chosen organisation and their own management and leadership. The programme is intended for: (i) those who currently hold a position of influence in managing innovation and change in their own organisations, or managers whose current role will include leadership in the future, or (ii) those who have other business, management or professional qualifications appropriate to their leadership role and for whom the programme is seen as widening and developing career and personal experience. Normally a number of years of management experience is required for entry, though a combination of experience and good first degree is also normally acceptable

  • Course description
    The programme aims to provide a wide-ranging, informed and systematic approach to  the challenges of management and leadership, focusing on the critical issues of innovation and change. In addition to an exposure to leadership thinking and leading thinkers, candidates will be supported in identifying particular personal and work-based issues for resolution and development in their chosen organisation. The programme will provide frameworks and opportunities for supervised reflection, leadership skills development, networking and executive coaching.

    There are four taught modules, a research methods module, and a dissertation

    Taught modules - PGDip / PGCert

    -Leading innovation and change
    -Essence of leadership
    -Strategic thinking and strategic leadership
    -Culture and innovation in organisations

    Research Modules - MA

    -Research Methods
    -Dissertation

    Any two of the taught modules lead to the PG Cert; four modules lead to the PG Dip, and the successful completion of the research dissertation leads to the award of MA Leading Innovation & Change.

    The programme uses a range of teaching and learning approaches, examples are: Visiting speakers, lectures, seminars and action learning sets. Research skills are developed throughout the programme with targetted skills development and research methods training. Programme staff will take responsibility for the development of a personalised learning experience that is individually and professionally challenging and meaningful.

    Attendance
    Each taught module is delivered in three two-day blocks, during the working week, and in term time.

    Assessment
    All work is assessed through written coursework
