    Entry Requirements

    Applications are welcome from anyone who holds an honours degree. A recognised teaching qualification is desirable but not essential.

  • Course description
    The programme will, in particular, help teachers meet the requirements of the new standards of excellent and advanced teacher status. Participants will be able to develop excellence in both pedagogy and subject specific skills.

    Teachers will be encouraged to reflect creatively in relating theory into practice within the requirements of the National Curriculum.

    Course Content

    Stage 1
    Postgraduate Certificate (PgC) 60 credits

        * Choose two option modules from across the MA suite

    Stage 2
    Postgraduate Diploma (PgD) 60 credits

        * One further module option module from across the MA suite
        * Research Methods in Education

    Stage 3
    Masters (MA) 60 credits

        * Dissertation - a substantial guided study, based on individual research within your chosen field.

    Teaching and Assessment

    Teaching is through tutor input, collaborative group work and discussion, interactive practical sessions, tutorials, presentations and private study. Assessment includes written assignments, oral and written presentations on a thesis of about 20,000 words.

    Supplemental Information

    All students have access to full library facilities, which now include 24/7 access and other online facilities. All students have the right to access the Student Support services and catering and car parking facilities are available for those studying on site.
