    Course Content
    Compulsory module (semester one):
    -Research Methods in English Language and Linguistics

    Optional modules (semester one).
    Two half modules from:
    -Ways of Analysing Text
    -Studies of Language using a Corpus-based Approach
    -Traditions of Discourse Analysis

    Optional modules (semester two).
    Four half modules from:
    -Language and the Law
    -Irish English: a Corpus Approach
    -Phonological Concepts and Methods
    -The Discourse of Humour
    -Development of English: a Historical-Corpus Approach
    -Language and Power
    -Non-linear Phonology

    And a Dissertation of up to 15,000 words on an approved topic.
