    To analyse in a scholarly, critical and methodologically sophisticated manner various aspects of international politics.
  • Entry requirements
    Entrance Requirements Normally at least an upper second class honours degree or equivalent in Politics, International Studies or a related subject. Additional Information for International Students Students require an IELTS Certificate (6.5 or above) or equivalent.

  • Course description
    Course Content
    Four taught modules covering evolution of international politics, and the trends toward globalisation, regionalisation and devolution. Students currently take:

    Approaches to International Politics
    Governance and Constitutionalism in World Politics

    and two options from a list including:

    -Beyond the Nation? Culture, Identity and Contemporary Political Theory
    -Conflict Intervention
    -International Security
    -Issues in European Governance
    -Northern Ireland and the World
    -Theory and Politics of Globalisation.

    And a dissertation of no more than 15,000 words.

    Examination and continuous assessment.

    This degree qualifies for DEL funding but any eligible candidate wanting to be considered for such an award must apply before 1 April in any year.

    Special Features
    It is also possible to study for a Diploma in each of the areas covered by the MA programmes. The Diploma is constructed around the coursework elements of the MA programmes. On successful completion of the coursework, it is possible to complete the dissertation for an award of MA.

    All of the MA programmes offered in the School provide an appropriate basis for those who wish to proceed to doctoral study. In addition, our graduates go on to a wide range of careers in both the private and public sectors.
