Objectives
The programme provides an advanced understanding of international affairs, with an emphasis on security matters. This MA addresses the needs of those seeking to develop careers in government, the armed forces, nongovernmental organisations and international business (e.g. risk assessment).The programme grounds students in the theoretical study of international studies, making it appropriate for those whose interest is primarily scholarly. Students may choose between exploring international studies and security at a general level or specialising in a variety of sub-fields. For more details, see the outline of programme structure below. By the end of the degree, students should: • Have an advanced understanding of theory and practice in international studies and security. • Have developed advanced skills of discussion, analysis and evaluation. • Have developed a network of contacts with other specialists in the fields of international studies and security.
