  • Objectives
    This course enables students to deepen their knowledge of the interaction of verbal and visual imagery as exemplified in Hispanic works. Its aims are in all other respects the same as those of the MA in Spanish and Portuguese Studies.
  • Entry requirements
    Entrance Requirements A good honours degree, half of which is in Hispanic Studies or Spanish. Additional Information for International Students An IELTS score of 6.5 and TOEFL score of 575 on paper and 233 on computer.

    Course Content

    -Research Methods (compulsory)
    -Dissertation (compulsory double module)

    Three taught modules from the following:
    -Gender and the Avant-Garde: Between Image and Text
    -Literature and the Spanish Enlightenment
    -The Picture and the Word in 20th Century Spanish Culture

    A comparable module currently on offer within the MA in the Hispanic Studies programme may be substituted for one of the above.

    The taught modules will be assessed by written assignments; candidates who have reached a 50 per cent pass mark in the taught modules will submit a dissertation, not exceeding 15,000 words.
