Objectives
The MA TESOL and Applied Linguistics course aims to provide professional development and training in applied linguistics appropriate to more experienced teachers of English.

Entry requirements
Applicants should normally be teachers or others working in the ELT field, with at least a second class honours degree or its equivalent from a non-UK university (GPA 3.0 or above) plus two years’ teaching experience. Those who are not native speakers of English need to have a proficiency level equivalent to GCSE Grade C, IELTS 6.5 or TOEFL 600/CBT 250/IBT100 (including a minimum of 4.0 in the TWE); Cambridge Proficiency Grade C or above.

Teaching and assessment methods
On campus teaching is seminar-based, with tutorial support. The DL course uses both e-learning and some paper-based materials. Assessment is through essays and some tests and project work. Students are encouraged to develop their transferable skills, including IT and oral presentation.
