    The Department of Criminology and Sociological Studies and the School of Law have joined forces to offer a new, innovative degree in Criminology and Human Rights. The degree explores the changing relationships between crime, criminal justice and human rights. The degree is composed of core courses in the theory and law of human rights, in criminological theory and in human rights violations and criminology. It offers wide ranging options including courses in, international human rights law, criminal justice, the law of self determination and research methods. The degree can be taken as an MA or an LLM.

    As detailed below, Course work is divided between core criminology modules and optional modules in criminology and/or research training. Candidates for the degree also complete a dissertation in a subject of their choice, supervised by an expert in the field. A separate booklet (the CASS postgraduate module handbook) provides more information on all core and optional modules currently available for CASS postgraduate students.
