Comments about MA-Postgraduate Diploma-Postgraduate Certificate-Certificate Spatial Planning - At the institution - Bristol City - Bristol

  • Objectives
The Spatial Planning courses are being developed with support from the UK Office of the Deputy Prime Minister. The course will give existing planning practitioners additional knowledge and skills so that they are better equipped to practise spatial planning and contribute to the Government's Creating Sustainable Communities agenda.
  • Academic title
    MA/Postgraduate Diploma/Postgraduate Certificate/Certificate Spatial Planning
  • Course description
These Spatial Planning courses are designed to form part of a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programme for people working in planning (who will often be members of the RTPI) and for people in related professions.

The MA Spatial Planning programme has been accredited by the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) as a 'specialist Master's degree' and will provide the route to full membership of the RTPI only to those students who have completed the spatial planning element (but not the specialist element) of an RTPI accredited 'spatial planning course' elsewhere. The MA Spatial Planning programme is only offered as a specialist course at present, and as such, it is also aimed at students who perhaps qualified in planning some years ago, perhaps without a Master's degree, who want to update their knowledge and skills of the new planning system, with the added benefit of achieving a Master's degree that is approved by the RTPI.

If you have not already done an RTPI accredited course and you wish to become a member of the RTPI, then you should look at the postgraduate MA Town and Country Planning or one of the undergraduate MPlan courses at Bristol UWE, which are all accredited by the RTPI.
