    Programme

The MBA is designed to help a student become more effective as a manager and to aid in the transition from effective specialist manager to senior manager. Our MBA programmes are consistently ranked among the best in the world by The Economist and The Financial Times. The University of Edinburgh Business School is one of only a limited number of UK institutions accredited by the Association of MBAs and the European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS).

In the first semester, the basic subject knowledge is developed across all major disciplines. This is followed by studies in Strategic Management and Corporate Strategy, accompanied by option courses. From April to June you will follow one-week courses, simulation and in-company consultancy, applying multidisciplinary approaches. Throughout the programme you will participate in an extensive personal development programme focusing on individual and team skills, as well as key competencies such as persuasive communication and problem solving.

    Learning Outcomes

You will develop an integrated understanding of the essential aspects of management in knowledge and leadership skills. The programme allows further development of specialist knowledge through your choice of options and dissertation project.

    How You Will Be Taught

The programme adopts a multitude of teaching and learning approaches. Lectures and case studies are supplemented with in-class discussions, presentations, project work as well as problem-based and action learning. In addition, students will participate in skills workshops, outdoor activities, language classes and a consultancy project with local companies.

An exchange of ideas between the academic and management communities is encouraged by inviting senior managers to discuss the applicability and limitations of concepts introduced in the courses.
