    This unique programme is designed to contribute to the personal development and entrepreneurial performance of owner-managers, directors and managers operating in the small and medium enterprise (SME) sector by developing the knowledge and skills necessary for the strategic development of their business. It will also appeal to entrepreneurial managers in the corporate sector and individuals who supply support services to the SME sector.

    Course structure
    Participants get ongoing support and access to e-learning resources. There is a research project related to your business activities and a short summer school. The focus throughout is on the relevance of theory and research to practice, and workshops are activity based.

    Foundations of the Enterprise

    Enterprise development is created through interactive processes. This project-based module will help you reflect on the entrepreneurial processes that produce enterprise development. This module enables you to develop a conceptual and practical understanding of the key dynamic entrepreneurship processes that produce and sustain an enterprise.

    Strategic Enterprise Development
    Sustainable enterprises demonstrate continuous self-development. This module enables you to develop a critical and systematic understanding of the entrepreneurship strategies that sustain and develop enterprises. You will also develop a critical awareness of the demands and powers of enterprise development.

    Leadership and Facilitation
    As an entrepreneur or business adviser, you need to have a critical knowledge of leading, facilitating and consulting methods. You will develop a critical, thorough grounding in interpersonal and consultancy skills for effectively leading and facilitating as a leader, key manager or internal or external adviser.

    Critical Enterprise Futures
    This module will help you understanding an enterprise’s wider environment, helping you anticipate risks and opportunities as the world changes. This module develops your knowledge and skills to examine critically the powers, agents, institutions and structures shaping the present and future environments for enterprise development. It will help you be sensitive to the environment to reflexively shape what your enterprise becomes.

    Management Research
    This module aims to provide you with knowledge of research strategies and is designed to help you understand the processes involved in conducting effective research. You will see the significance of theoretical principles in the research process And understand how important it is to present clear and credible arguments and evidence to support research design and findings.

    Dissertation
    This module integrates your learning and development as you apply your knowledge and understanding to organisational issues. You will do a major project related to a business issue of significance within an organisation, leading to a written report.
