  The aims of this programme are to consider key concepts in the interdisciplinary field of translation studies and to explore the interaction between translation and fields such as literary studies, linguistics, anthropology and tourism studies.

  Scotland has always been a multilingual nation and it has long-established links with other lands, cultures and languages. The programme focuses on the history and contemporary practice of translation in Scotland, and guided research allows you to explore the reception of Scottish literature overseas and/or world literature in Scotland.
  
  The programme draws on expertise from the Centre for Scottish & Celtic Studies, the School of English & Scottish Language & Literature and the Faculty of Education. You will also benefit from the availability of national resources such as the online Bibliography of Scottish Literature in Translation and the Scottish Poetry Library, which plays an active role in fostering translation activity. The MLitt should appeal if you have a background in literary studies and wish to extend your understanding of literature and languages from comparative and interdisciplinary perspectives.

      * Moliere in Scotland.
  
  Plus a dissertation in an approved area.
