    Course description
The first two years of the MOptom programme are identical to those of the BSc Optometry programme. At the end of the second year, if you wish to proceed to the MOptom and you have demonstrated a good academic performance, you embark on the final two years, which will include a year of practical experience, plus advanced project and lecture courses. You spend one week full-time at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital during the vacation between the second and third years. This provides a wealth of practical clinical experience in all hospital departments and sets the theoretical teaching in Ocular Disease in a practical context. On the MOptom programme, you get clinical experience in private practice for 6 months and at an Eye Hospital for 6 months.
