    You should have a good Honours degree or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject Students with a 2:2 or lower, or experience rather than formal qualifications, can study for a Diploma. Successful completion can lead to transfer to the MSc Graduates from other disciplines (eg. applied health, physiotherapy) may still be eligible for entry You should have a good standard of written and spoken English (IELTS 6.0 or equivalent) Alternatively, you should be currently employed within the health and fitness, educational or health sector If you are currently employed we request a statement of support from your employer

    Future prospects

    Those seeking a career in sport and exercise science will be expected to study for a Masters degree and engage in BASES accreditation (up to three years supervised experience)

    Once qualified there is a range of positions available. These include: working for the Institute of Sport in supporting elite athletes; working for individual National Governing Bodies (NGBs) on world class performance/potential/start programmes; working with professional clubs (eg. professional football); working with corporations/businesses; working with individuals (usually elite athletes/clubs); lecturing on degree/HND programmes; or conducting research

    Job positions include: exercise physiologist, bio mechanist, psychologist, fitness advisor, strength and conditioning coach or nutritionist

    The course provides you with opportunities to develop practical skills and theoretical knowledge relevant to personal and professional advancement
