  • Objectives
    The aim of this programme is to take an interdisciplinary approach in order to chart the development of transnational Muslim cultures in the world today.

    In doing so, the programme draws on established bodies of work as well as contemporary literature on transnationalism, theories of diaspora, issues of space and identity, and globalisation in such fields as history, sociology and anthropology.

    Learning Outcomes

    Students will learn about the changing processes of international migration and the subsequent emerging forms of identity in diasporic socialities in the modern world.

    They will also learn about inter-communal relations within nation-states, which deal with the problem at the heart of diaspora studies.

    How You Will Be Taught

    The programme combines seminar and tutorial work with essays, examinations, longer research projects (dissertations) and practical research training.
