Objectives
To provide a uniquely multidisciplinary learning experience relevant to the emerging discipline of biological engineering and careers in industrial bioprocessing.
Entry requirements
Entry Requirements You must have at least a 2.1 honours first degree (or equivalent) in engineering or science in a suitable subject. If you are an International student you must also have a suitable language qualification, such as TOFEL (minimum score 550) or IELTS (minimum overall score 6.5 with no individual score less than 5.0). You may be required to attend an English Language course in the University before or during the programme.

Course description
Course Content
You will be taught by experts in the field from the Department of Chemical and Process Engineering, plus highly complementary teaching modules provided by a range of Sheffield's other world-class departments. These include Molecular Biology and Biotechnology, Engineering Materials and Physics.

-Research Methods in Biochemical Engineering
-Biosystems Engineering and Computational Biology
-Biopharmaceutical Bioprocessing
-Microfluics
-Bionanomaterials
-Stem Cell Biology
-Tissue Approaches to Failure in Living Systems
-Laboratory-Based Research Project
Teaching
You will be taught through a combination of lectures, tutorials, example classes and coursework assignments. You will also undertake an extended laboratory-based research project which will be assessed via a dissertation and oral presentation. During the programme you will gain a number of opportunities for personal development, including the interaction with leading people from industry during invited seminars and workshop sessions.
