  This course has been designed to provide high-quality training in the skills needed for an exciting and rewarding career in managing
  and conserving our natural environments. Our extensive and exciting fieldwork programme will train you in a wide range of environmental survey and assessment techniques.
  
  This course will provide you with training in a wide range of quantitative, environmental sampling techniques, supply up-to-the-minute knowledge
  and skills for work in scientific and managerial roles in environmental conservation, and will help you develop a host of high-level practical and
  transferable skills relevant to management of the natural environment.

  Course Content
  
  Subjects include:
  
      * Terrestrial Conservation
      * Conservation and Management of Freshwater Environments
      * Conservation Biology
      * Global Climate Change and Sea-Level Rise
      * Environmental Legislation, Treaties and Policies
      * Environmental Modelling and Geographical
        Information Systems (GIS)
      * Principles of Environmental Management
      * Environmental Project
  
  You also select one option from:
  
      * Sustainable Development
      * Tropical Ecology (16-day excursion to tropical location – additional fee applies)
  
  You may also have the opportunity to undertake a scientific diving course, either locally or at a tropical location (for additional fee). You will conduct a substantial research project in an area of your choice, often in co-operation with an environmental management organisation.
  How To Study
  
  Full-time students spend around 12 hours per week in lectures and practical sessions, while part-time students attend one day per week. There are also fieldwork excursions, typically to Portugal and Mid Wales. Approximately two-thirds of assessment in taught modules is by coursework – reports of field excursions, case studies, presentations, workshop
  participation, analysis of data etc., with examinations in three modules.
  
  Career prospects
  
  Past graduates from this course have progressed to careers in the Environment Agency, utility companies, local, national and international conservation organisations, environmental consultancies, regional and national government. Several have also progressed to PhD study and into academic careers.
