    Learning Outcomes

    Students who follow the programme will:

        * develop the ability to read, translate and critically evaluate core texts in the specific areas studied;
        * develop critical awareness of at least two specific areas of Japanese Studies, both in terms of the indigenous literary and/or critical traditions and in comparison with Western critical thinking;
        * develop the necessary linguistic skills to conduct research in defined areas within Japanese Studies by retrieving, selecting and assimilating information from a variety of sources including those in Japanese;
        * use the bibliographic, internet and other relevant resources to advanced level in both Japanese and English.

    How You Will Be Taught

    The core courses and options are taught by seminar and tutorials. There is a compulsory Research Skills and Methods course which will equip students with the skills needed for their dissertation.
