Objectives
To provide personal development and transferable skills such as communication and dissemination skills, and professional development. To provide general research skills such as bibliographic and computing skills, awareness of ethical issues in research. To provide expertise specific to research in psychology (e.g. an understanding of different methods of data collection and analysis in psychological research, practical experience conducting a piece of psychological research)
Entry requirements
The MSc in Psychological Research is primarily intended for students who aim to enrol for a PhD. However, it can also be taken as a stand alone Masters. The course therefore provides advanced training in research methods and professional skills as a foundation for subsequent registration for an MPhil/PhD in Psychology. It also fulfils the requirements for the first year of the ESRC 1+3 research training programme.
