    This degree programme is particularly suitable for graduates who work, or intend to work, in the space industry, space agencies or space research institutes, both in the UK and abroad. The MSc can also be seen as a conversion for prospective PhD students. No previous knowledge of space science and engineering is necessary.

    Content

    The programme consists of a healthy mix of taught courses and a group project in addition to the individual dissertation work. In addition, guest lecturers from the European Space Agency and leading European space industries will deliver seminar and lectures. The programme is divided as follows:

    Semester 1: Core courses

        * Spaceflight dynamics 1
        * Spaceflight dynamics 2
        * Spacecraft systems 1
        * Spacecraft systems 2
        * Mission analysis and design 1
        * Mission analysis and design 2
        * Professional development 1.


    Semester 2: Advanced courses

        * Advanced concepts
        * Space applications
        * Advanced orbital mechanics
        * Professional development 2
        * Group project.


    Following the successful completion of examinations, you will spend the summer months working on an individual research project. You will perform an in-depth study of an agreed topic. This may involve secondment to a research group, a relevant company or agency, or it may be carried out independently. In addition, you may choose to be placed in a US or European university through the International Masters Programme providing international scope to the degree.
