    This innovative course was designed to provide a new type of healthcare worker and is aimed at graduates with a health and social care background who are employed to work in primary care.

    Course structure
    The focus of this course is the development of therapeutic skills, especially the use of cognitive behavioural therapy in working with patients with anxiety and mild to moderate depression. You will be given training on self-help techniques and mood management. A year-long module develops your clinical skills, allowing you to achieve capabilities within the practice area. Other modules develop your knowledge of primary care and the patient group.

    Careers
    Graduates will have the opportunity to work in primary care settings such as GP surgeries and community-based clinics.
