    Standard Route MA (Democracy and Elections) students will study Political Parties in Contemporary Britain and Democracy: Theory and Practice, Advanced Research in Politics, and Dissertation Research Design, Additionally students choose modules from a battery of options from MA taught courses such as:-

    -Comparative Citizen Politics
    -Rational Politics
    -Rhetoric in Public Policy
    -Understanding Governance
    -The European Union: Politics and Policy Making
    -Feminism and Political Theory
    -Justice and Pluralism

    This degree is aimed at those wishing to study the nature of democracy and the behaviour of citizens and states. It provides both quantitative and qualitative training and each student carries out a research dissertation based on an aspect of democracy, elections, governance or behaviour. Examples of dissertation topic areas include,

    -Trust, turnout and participation.
    -Deliberation in democracy.
    -Electoral behaviour.
    -Modern political parties.
    -Engagement and representation of citizen groups.
    -Democratic institutions.
    -Normative and practical aspects of democracy.
