  • Course description
    This Master’s programme is work-based as far as possible and is flexible on start dates and duration. You would normally study for three years: two years to complete the work-based learning modules and a further year to complete an individual project. You need to achieve 180 credit points for a Master’s degree and would normally be expected to take 60 credit points of study in each academic year. The programme is based upon the requirements of UK-SPEC, which is the standard for recognition of professional engineers in the UK - and includes eight 15-credit point modules plus a 60-credit point project which you undertake once you have completed the other modules. You must complete your studies within five years.

    You will be in employment in mechanical, aerospace, automotive, computing, electrical or electronic engineering.

    Teaching methods

    This programme is work-based. The structure reflects the requirements of UK SPEC.

    Students will be supported by University staff in the development of a learning contract and subsequent company-based learning at Master’s level. A nominated programme specialist will liaise with students throughout the 3-year part-time programme. Additional academic staff will support students involved in modules relating to their particular area of expertise.
