  COURSE INFORMATION
  This exciting programme leads to the internationally recognised award of Master of Public Administration (MPA). The programme examines the role of the public manager in the twenty-first century in relation to the rapidly changing public service environment and the challenges posed for the effective management of policy and service delivery. We analyse the most significant developments in public management including partnership working, new patterns of governance, public involvement, reshaping of service provision and mechanisms for evaluating and scrutinising the delivery of services. At the same time, we place such developments within a local, regional, European and global context and draw on both theory and practice to identify key trends and strategic opportunities for the future.
  
  Further opportunities for study
  The MPA provides a route into the Professional Doctorate of Public Administration (DPA), which is equivalent to a PhD. The DPA provides an opportunity for public administrators to undertake continuing professional development and postgraduate study at doctoral level. The programme can be studied over three years (full-time) or five years (part-time) both beginning in September.
