  • Course description

    Using state of the art digital technologies in the Arts University Workshops, you will explore and develop skills in a range of professional software packages that can help realise and develop your ideas, 3-dimensional designs and artwork.

    As the course progresses you will explore the principles of 3D modelling, drawing from sketches and working to manufacturing tolerances.

    Throughout the course you will be given access and tuition on the use of technologies that play an important part in the art, design and development industries.

    You will develop your proficiencies in accurate data creation using 2D drafting tools in CAD (Computer Aided Design) programmes such as Rhino, Illustrator and SolidWorks, you will continue to explore the multitude of ways you can create data and explore the application of the technology.

    You will have access to a range of CNC Milling centres, Laser cutting technologies and 3D printers that will assist you in your work and design methodologies. We will also experiment with a range of input devices and reverse engineering tools such as digitising arms and 3D scanners. You will learn how to safely use and operate Digital Prototyping machines.

    Entry Requirements

    All students attending this course must be proficient using computers.

    What you need to bring

    A notebook and a pen, or iPad/laptop if preferred.
