ObjectivesChina is a major power in international business, and knowledge of contemporary China and the Mandarin language are skills highly sought after by many employers. Economics modules form two-thirds of the degree, and the remainder is made up of modules in Chinese studies. Mandarin may be studied as part of the course, but it is not compulsory. Students also have the option to undertake a three week intensive project on Shanghai and Beijing, that may involve a field trip to China.

Programme
Year one
In year one you will take Introduction to Chinese Studies, Countries in Transition, China and Eastern Europe, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Quantitative Economics, and optional modules taken from Economics or other Schools.
Year two
In year two you will take Chinese Society and Economy 1 and 2,Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Quantitative Economics, Applied Economics and optional modules, including Inter-Faculty Mandarin.
Year three
In year three you take Chinese Economy 1 and 2 and a selection of modules from the wide range of third-year economics options, including Mandarin.
