  • Entry requirements Entry requirements Students should normally have a good portfolio, plus one of the following: * Successful completion of an Art and Design Foundation Course * National Diploma merit profile in a relevant subject * 240 points, to include two GCE/VCE A Levels with grade C in at least one art or design subject Applications from mature students (21+) with alternative qualifications and/or work experience.

    Programme

    This course enables students to resolve a wide range of requirements in the design of innovative furniture concepts. With the focus on contemporary design for mass manufacture, students design for a variety of markets including domestic, schools and public spaces. As well as taking live briefs from industry, students participate in international competitions where this course has had particular success, from the Ercol Award to the British Furniture Industry Awards. Students gain an awareness of the commercial aspect of the furniture industry, enabling them to design furniture with real potential in the retail environment. The course benefits from dedicated studio spaces and extensive computer aided design facilities. Students also have access to excellent workshops with specialist furniture manufacturing equipment including laminators, large scale vacuum forming machines, veneer presses and computer numerically controlled routers.
