In all three years of study you will explore critical ideas in Television in practice, both in our TV studio and on location, using video and editing equipment. In your first year you will follow foundation courses which will introduce you to the study of television and Film & Theatre. In your second year you will study the history of British television drama, key producers, directors and writers, and take a module in documentary film and television. You will also follow two core courses in Film & Theatre. In the third year more advanced modules in television drama genres and television documentary will expand on the central concepts explored in year 2. You will take one critical option and also write a dissertation on a critical aspect that combines television with film or theatre.
  • Entry requirements There are different entry qualifications for each programme. Some programmes require you to have a certain amount of knowledge in a subject before you begin the degree programme – this is called a ‘subject requirement’. Other programmes do not have any specific subject requirements. All programmes will, however, expect you to have reached a certain standard in your education and will ask you to achieve certain grades in your examinations. Most programmes have a standard offer so that you know in advance what you are likely to need. Please note that even if you have the minimum entry qualifications, you are not necessarily guaranteed a place on the degree programme.
