BSc Biotechnology

  • Objectives * Biosciences research facilities cover fermentation biotechnology, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), cell culture, molecular biology and pharmacology. * Many of the facilities are also equipped with high speed internet access for bioinformatics teaching. * There are excellent facilities for chemical and biomedical analysis, genetics and cell biology studies and students have access to the latest equipment for chemical synthesis and purification, PCR , qPCR and 2D protein gel analysis systems for use during their final year projects. * 13% of all of the graduates nationally, who became professional biologists at the last annual count were from Hertfordshire University (Virgin Student Guide, 2006).
  • Entry requirements The university requires you to have at least 2 A Levels (or equivalent) to begin an Honours Undergraduate Degree Programme or at least one for a Foundation Degree. The entry requirements for undergraduate degrees are given generally in UCAS Tariff Points.
