  • Objectives * Designed for Sound Technologists with a musical leaning * Focused around digital technologies * Graduates will gain an understanding of the breadth of music technology tools and their use * Committed to the study of musical and technological innovation.
  • Entry requirements Entry requirements * Normally 220 UCAS Tariff points from a minimum of two subjects at Advanced Level (or equivalent) * And * Normally Five GCSE's at grade C or above (or equivalent), including English and Maths. However, we are also keen to talk to mature students (21+) who have relevant industry experience and/or relevant training but who do not meet the above formal qualifications. * BTEC Diploma/Certificate, Advanced VCE(s), Advanced GNVQ, Scottish Higher and Irish Leaving Certificate.

    Programme

    The programme divides into the following themes:

        * Technology: how it works
        * Techniques: how you do it
        * New media: the web and video
        * Composition.

    Specific areas of study include: acoustics, sound engineering, audio and vision technology, digital media, composition, music programming and computing, and radio. This means that students incorporate technology and equipment that just a few years ago was the sole premise of the top professionals. The new technologies being introduced are resulting in some highly interesting crossovers into club culture, computer games and art. Some typical modules for the programme are:

        * Introduction to ‘www’ Publishing
        * Multimedia Presentations
        * Mass Media Technology
        * Digital Radio
        * Media Electronics
        * Digital Culture.

    Year Three allows for specialisation via a work or research project and can include Audio Signal Processing, Studio Engineering, Acoustics and Psychoacoustics.
